Alexander Graham Bell (1847-1922), Inventor

Alex Bell was born on Mar 3, 1847, in Edinburg, Scotland. He attended the following schools: a private school, Edinburgh's Royal High School, Edinburgh University and London's University College.

He found Thomas Watson, a repair mechanic who became Bell's enthusiastic assistant. Together, they were granted 30 patents, 19 of which were for the improvement of communications technology. 9 of them were for transportation, and 2 for a selenium cell. He also founded the National Geograpic Society in 1888.

Alexander Graham Bell is a great man. Bell's telephone and other telegraphic inventions "picked out wax from the ears" of cites, neighborhoods and towns, making it easier for people to hear each other. People from across the country could say "Hi!" without stepping out of their door. Without the
telephone, we might not have all of the computers and fiber optics and such that we have today! :-)
