He was the second of nine children. His family was wealthy. John was 13 years old when he went to Canterbury School, which was a private school in New Milford, Connecticut, but he fell ill and never returned.

Kennedy graduated from Harvard Univeraity in 1940. A year later he joined the Navy; he became skipper of a PT boat. John began politics in 1946 and was later elected to Congress.

He married Jacqueline Lee Bouvier on Sept.12,1953 and had three children: Caroline, John Fitzgerald,Jr., and Patrick Bouvier (died a baby). Kennedy was the first president to be born in the 20th Century. He was the youngest person to be elected president.

He was president from 1961 to 1963. John was 46 when he was shot. He was shot before completing his third year as president.
