Samuel F.B. Morse (1809-1865) Inventor of the telegraph and Morse Code

Morse, Samuel Finley Breese was born in Charlestown, MA, part of modern Boston, on Apr. 27, 1791. He went to to Yale Colloege, part of Yale Univ. He helped found the Natl. Academy of Design in the NYC and became the first president of it. He then had interest in chemicals and electricity and developed the telegraph. Morse the composed a code that was named after him (Morse Code) to use with his invention. He then died in NYC on Apr. 2, 1872.

Sam Morse's invention of the telegraph was a major impact on communication. It helped boaters, the army, and even neiborhoods communicate easily and quickly beetween each other. The first telegraph line was constructed beetween DC and Baltimore, MA. Then, on May 24, 1844, he sent the first telegraph message,"What hath God wrought!"
