Learning Family Reisers at Yellowstone National Park

June 12 - 19, 1998

Yellowstone is the world's first and oldest national park. It was established in 1872. We decided to take our home school on the road to Yellowstone to finish up our study of geology and weather, and begin study of the origin of life on earth.

We were gone for 8 days, June 12 - June 19, 1998. This site was originally created while we were on the road, and uploaded via cellular modem from within the park. It has be reworked slightly since then to improve navigation.

Saturday, June 13:
Craters of the Moon National Monument, Idaho.

Sunday, June 14:
All about geysers, Old Faithful, Bison, Elk, Squirrels

Mon day, June 15:
Mammoth Hot Springs, Thermophiles, Coyote, Deer, SNOW!

Tuesday, June 16:
Canyon Campground, cold and snowy in the morning, clearing, bike ride, bear country

Wednesday, June 17:
Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, Upper and Lower Falls

Thursday, June 18:
Rain again. Build our own geyser, bike ride, more wildlife.

Friday, June 19:
Torrential rain. BEAR SIGHTING! drive home.
