Our studies on the road have finally come to the end of the Mesozoic Era, and the extinction of the dinosaurs. But on a geologic time-scale, extinction isn't always bad. It makes room for new species. Evolution and extinction go hand-in-hand in creating the wonderful life on earth.

The Cenozoic Era began just after the dinsosaurs, and is often called the Age of Mammals. The greatest mammal ever is the great whale. The picture to the right is of a California Grey Whale at the Monterey Bay Aquarium (MBA). We've become fond of MBA, and spent another day there.

Below are a couple of new pictures from our recent visit. You can see more from our visit earlier this year, when we spent three entire days there.

We've found some really fun ways to learn at museums, aquariums and zoos. Here Harrison draws Yellowfin Tuna and Ocean Sunfish at the Open Ocean aquarium.

Amanda draws Purple Striped Jellies. It was fun to draw pictures of all the sea creatures. Lots of other kids came to watch.
