The only place in the US where four states meet at one point. Although the fact that four states meet here is it is really just a curiosity, it somehow carries a special meaning, representing the convergence of many different cultures over time, often co-existing in peace while maintaining their own identity.

The Four Corners monument is actually on Navajo territory, and as such, has a good gathering of artisans selling hand-made items. We had a good time talking with some of the shopkeepers, and came away with a treasured piece of sandstone with artwork by a 7 year old boy.
